1st BATTALION, 47th INFANTRY

1917  - Constituted 15 May as Company A, 47th Infantry, Regular Army:
organized 1 June Syracuse, NY, and assigned 19 November to the 4th Division

Company lineage follows that of the 47th Infantry from 1917 through 1947 activation at Fort Dix, NJ

1. Reorganized and redesignated 1 December as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battle Group, 47th, and remained assigned to 9th Infantry Division
   
   
2. Inactivated 31 January at Fort Carson, CO
   
   
3. Redesignated 20 May as 1st Battalion, 47th Infantry, and relieved from assignment to the 9th Infantry Division; assigned to the 171st Infantry Brigade and activated 1 July in Alaska
