1917 - Constituted 15 May as Company A, 47th Infantry, Regular Army:
organized 1 June Syracuse, NY, and assigned 19 November to the 4th Division
Company lineage follows that of the 47th Infantry from 1917 through 1947 activation at Fort Dix, NJ
- Reorganized and redesignated 1 December as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battle Group, 47th, and remained assigned to 9th Infantry Division
- Inactivated 31 January at Fort Carson, CO
- Redesignated 20 May as 1st Battalion, 47th Infantry, and relieved from assignment to the 9th Infantry Division; assigned
to the 171st Infantry Brigade and activated 1 July in Alaska
