47th INFANTRY REGIMENT MONUMENT FUND
Status Update: 21 February 2012
This month we announced with great pleasure that we that we met our fundraising goal of $22,000.00 on 10 February 2012.
We have continued to receive donations since meeting our goal. These donations are very helpful and very much appreciated.
These very generous donations provide us the ability to:
1. Reimburse the Active Duty Soldiers of 47th Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, who graciously secured and funded ($1,500) the plot at the National Infantry Museum’s Walk of Honor to get our 47th Infantry Regimental Monument kicked started, and to;
2. Cover additional unanticipated expenses associated with the construction, placement, dedication and maintenance of our 47th Infantry Regimental Monument in April.
Once all 47th Infantry Regimental Monument expenses are covered, any remaining funds realized from donations received after we met our goal on 10 February 2012, will be donated to the 2nd Battalion 47th Infantry Regiment Memorial Scholarship Foundation. This Foundation was established to provide funds to attend a college, university, vocational/technical school or other qualified institution of higher education to descendants of current and deceased Vietnam veterans of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Battalions of the 47th Infantry Regiment. The Foundation awards a minimum of one (1) $500.00 scholarship annually. For more information go to http://www.247scholarship.org/
Next steps are to complete construction and to dedicate our monument on April 26, 2012, at the National Infantry Museum’s Walk of Honor during our 47th Infantry Regimental Reunion to be held 25 -29 April 2012.
Thank you for your help in making our dream a reality.
NEVER QUIT!
